REVIEW: The Suicide Squad

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad film follows a new group of Task Force X on a suicide mission that’s balls to wall entertaining, and ambitious. MINOR SPOILERS.

If you love Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn you will love her in this film. James Gunn brings out the Harley Quinn we are familiar with compared to Birds of Prey. I enjoyed Rick Flag more in this film compared to the first film. Joel Kinnaman gives a great performance.

I enjoyed Edris Elba as Bloodsport. He doesn’t feel like deadahot in my opinion. This biggest star and break out performance was Daniela Melchior who plays Ratcatcher 2. She was the heart of the film, and stole every scene she was in.

I thought the action scenes and the CG was fantastic for Starro, Wheastle, and King Shark. I also enjoyed David Dastmalchian as Polka-Dot Man, and Viola Davis as the cold hearted Amanda Waller was spot on.

The first hour of the film was over saturated with jokes that didn’t land at all. There is pacing issues, and John Cena as Peacemaker was horrible in the film.

I thought King Shark and Polka-Dot Man was under use in the film, and if you enjoyed the first film you will be upset with some of the decisions made. I also thought the sound track was horrible.

Overall: 7/10

The Suicide Squad film is diffently better than the first film. The final hour is unpredictable and very good, as you don’t know what happens next. James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is her ambitious and fun with flaws.
