REVIEW: Loki Episode Two

After great pilot episode from the God of Mischief. Episode two continues the trend, with another great episode titled The Variant. Episode two has our fan favorite villain Loki on a mission to find his variant or doppelganger. MINOR SPOILERS

PROS

Tom Hiddleston continues to be the one man show. I could watch this guy play Loki just by him talking to himself. I enjoyed the moments between him and the cartoon character Ms Minutes played by Tara Strong. The chemistry between Loki and Morbius played by Owen Wilson continues to show the chemistry they have on screen. Especially the scene in 1985 when Mobius almost bought into Loki’s lies because that’s how good Tom Hiddleston plays Loki.

We get some cool easter egg from Thor Ragnork, the soul stone, and potential seeds in the future that will carry onto future shows and Marvel Studios movies in the next phases. I enjoyed the film reference to Denzel Washington’s film The Fallen that shows a power that the Loki variant uses. I loved the music score by Natalie Holt. Her score in episode two builts up to our big reveal at the end makes the episode feels cinematic and the stakes feel bigger.

CONS

I’m not a fan of most of the TVA characters outside of Owen Wilson’s Mobius and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer. I think the TVA Hunter B-15 played by Wunmi Mosaku I want to see less of, because the character in any scenes in episode two hurts any good vibe the show is consistently has. Hopefully will see less of the character as we watch more episode.

OVERALL: 9.5/10

Episode two has a lot to consume because a lot happens in the episode with a big reveal and the big cliffhanger that audiences like myself can’t wait to watch this Wednesday.
