REVIEW: Mortal Kombat 2021

The long waited Mortal Kombat is finally on HBO Max and release today world wide. Mortal Kombat star Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Joe Taslim, Ludi Lu, Mehcad Brooks, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion. This is not the Mortal Kombat movie we wanted but what was shoved down our throats. MINOR SPOILERS

I thought the opening between Scorpion and Sub-Zero was good. The movie presented the origin of Scorpion I thought was a good start. The fighting in the movie was good and I liked Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, and I thought the rest of the cast was ok with the material was given. I thought Mehcad Brooks as Jax, and Jessica McNamee as Sonia Blade was fine.

The moment after the title, the introduction was about the Scorpion’s bloodline will be the chosen one to bring the new fighters of earth together. That right there tells you its about Cole Young and a bunch of our favorite characters on the sideline watching him destroy this mythology.

The story made no sense from beginning to end. This is not what Mortal Kombat was suppose to be.

OVERALL: 1.5/10

This easily one of the worse video game movies to made. It is a combination of JCVD’s Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat Annihilation. I highly recommend to watch something else.
