Is there any excitement for Star Wars Episode 9?

It’s been 7 months since episode 8 The Last Jedi left many Star Wars fans disappointed. Many people including myself have felt Star Wars out, because of the direction and poorly executed of that film. I do think the reason Solo failed financial expectations is part of the aftermath of episode 8, I don’t think it had anything to do with movie fatigue since movies like Jurassic World 2, and Incredibles 2, have done extremely well financially after Solo came out. I didn’t see Solo, because I was Star Wars out after Last Jedi. I don’t have any interest in that movie, because there was no need for a Han Solo origin film.

Like all of the past Disney Star Wars movies, we’ve been hearing all sorts of rumors, from Bill De Williams possibly returning as Lando, Legends character Mara Jade who’s Luke’s wife in the legends comic book series by Dark Horse, and Yoda becoming Rey’s mentor are all rumored to be in Episode 9. IMO I would highly recommend fans not to pay any attention to any of the Star Wars rumors because none of the rumors of episode 8 or 7 were true.
What is quietly true is Mark Hamill will be back for Episode 9 because he and John Boyega recently release a social media post of a countdown to the release of episode 9 in December 2019 and to help create excitement for all star wars fans. So it’s officially confirmed by Mark Hamill himself he will be back as Luke Skywalker for Episode 9.

Star Wars Episode 9 2019

A post shared by John Boyega (@johnboyega) on

Sadly no one seems to care and have displayed their lack of excitement or enthusiasm If you read the comments from under their post. Many Star Wars fans express their less excited or not crazy about episode 9. This is one of the recently displays many star wars fans especially the longtime fans, which IMO are the ones who you need to please as well instead of ignoring them, like Rian Johnson and Kathleen Kennedy did in episode 8, because they are the reason why we have received so many Star Wars stories in all different media forms over the last 40 years.

I think a lot of the millennials will be excited for episode 9, because this is their intro to the Star Wars franchise in that sense, but right now no one who I know or listen to in all media outlet expressed their disliked for episode 8 and they don’t care for Episode 9. The exciting mark for episode 9 is extremely low right now. If you go on to some of the star wars pages in social media outlets, those pages appear to try desperately hard to build excitement for 9 especially with rumors, but continue to deal with negative comments from people who are making it clear they have no interest in episode 9, and their dislike for Star Wars direction.

I think next year’s Star Wars Celebration is when we can really determine, how much interest fans still have about Star Wars episode 9 and beyond. I think it is a little early to determine where the excitement is at, but I expect there will be more millennials and less longtime fans at next year’s celebration, and I think that will be one of the big stories coming out of next year’s celebration. Disney, JJ Abrams, and Kathleen Kennedy needs to really sell episode 9 especially to the longtime fans, because it will be short of billion dollars if they think they still have all of the fans in their pocket still. Disney has to bring their A++++ game to sell episode 9,if they want to continue to make more Star Wars films, because they obviously didn’t buy the franchise from George Lucas to do just a sequel trilogy. I am one of those fans who disliked The Last Jedi, but I am still hoping Disney and JJ Abrams fixes some of the direction Rian Johnson created.

I enjoyed a lot of the new characters in the sequel series such as Rey, Fin and Poe. Imo I thought Rey was poorly developed and did not evolve as a character in Last Jedi and Rian Johnson obviously didn’t know what to do with Fin. Hopefully Disney will try their best in trying to fix some of the doing from what Rian Johnson created out of episode 8. Tho right now according to many sites out there such as movieweek, cinemablend, and comicbookmovie rumor has it that his spinoff trilogy will be supposedly release in 2020, however also reports that could change depending on the success of episode 9.

Imo I think with all of the expectations killed off from episode 8, people are less enthusiastic about episode 9 including myself. I know I’ll eventually check it out when it’s release but I’ll probably wait to see it for awhile as most long time fans like myself will be cautious of seeing it right away.
